Department of plastic surgery in AIIMS Nagpur was established in June 2022,with the vision to become a center of excellence in the field of Burns ,Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, education and research activities.
We are committed to provide a comprehensive, evidence based, advanced state of art health services at affordable cost to the people in central India with various types of Burns, plastic and reconstructive cosmetic surgeries.
Our department aims to train post graduates and Super-speciality training and provide Clinical research which helps in the continuous evolution of therapeutic services, surgical techniques and ensures improved patient care.
Plastic surgery is a branch of medicine well known as the “problem solving” branch of medicine. It consists of surgeries involving various anatomical body parts from head to toe. It consists of 1. Cosmetic Surgery, and 2 . Reconstructive surgery.
Reconstructive surgery- Post Trauma and post burn reconstructive surgeries along with post cancer reconstructive surgeries and congenital reconstructive surgeries. Microvascular surgeries like a v fistula , vascular injuries and its repairs, replantation of digits/fingers , thumb and hand. Microvascular free flaps for reconstruction of post traumatic lower limb , upper limb, scalp and face defects also in reconstruction of Post cancer excision defects . Complex brachial plexus injuries ,Huge lymphoedema of lower limbs surgeries. We are Managing necrotising fasciitis , varicose veins ulcer, diabetic foot defects ,with help of physicians , intensivists and general surgery departments. Congenital deformities like Hypospadias, Cleft lip and palate, Hemangiomas , Anomalies of hand and foot , facial and ear anomalies.
Plastic surgery works with ENT surgeons, Orthopedic surgeons , General surgeons, Trauma and emergency surgeons, Gynecologists and Oncosurgeons.
Cosmetic surgeries- Rhinoplasty/ Nose job, facial fat grafting for youthful appearance, fillers and botox for youthful appearance. Face lift and neck lift surgeries , Browlift, Forehead lift surgeries , Hair transplant , Eyebrow transplant, Ear cosmetic surgeries including split ear lobule repair. Oculoplastic problems , Blepharoplasty, ptosis of upper eyelid. Chin augmentation , facial fat grafting. Gynecomastia surgery or Male boobs ,bad scars on face can be treated, acne scars on face can be treated. Body contouring by liposuction , tummy tuck surgery, breast augmentation , breast reduction , fat grafting to breast , buttock(Brazilian butt lifting), fat transfer to face for facial enhancement. Dermabrasion , chemical peeling , fillers , botox to enhance the facial appearance . We remove tattoos surgically.
With state of the art operation theaters with a very good Anaesthesia team and very good Trauma/ Emergency medicine & surgical ICU backup, we are able to handle the majority of emergencies. With the help of competent physicians, paediatricians and cardiologists, It is very easy to manage Patients with medical disorders and handle complex surgeries & patients. With the state of the art radiology department, it is very easy to diagnose the extent of disease and operate it accurately. Here CT Scan , MRI scan and Ultrasound so also Colour Doppler machines are available under one roof. Nuclear medicine department also at service whenever required.
We are conducting OPD in (i) Cosmetic Surgery (ii)Hand Injury Treatment & Brachial Plexus injuries (iii) Post Cancer Excision reconstructive surgeries, (IV)congenital deformity like polydactyly, cleft hands, Hypospadias, cleft lip and Palate, haemangioma and other lessons from childhood. (v) Diabetic Foot, Varicose veins ulcers, Post traumatic lower Limb defects reconstructive surgeries (v) Complex Maxillofacial surgeries, Craniofacial defects like Cleft palates & Lip (Vi)Post Burn Deformity correction (V) Vascular and micro vascular surgery follow up including CKD patients.
We are planning the Burns Department as a special sub department in a new and separate building in future.
We have started MCh in Burns & Plastic Surgery 3 years and 6 years courses , We are planning fellowships in cosmetic surgery and Hand & microvascular surgeries in the coming future.
We are very positive and hopeful about the expansion of this department in the coming future. .

We have already started outpatient and inpatient management of cardiac patients. We are regularly performing various investigations like Echocardiography, Holter monitoring, Treadmill test etc. We are performing various invasive procedures, which includes angiography, angioplasty, temporary and permanent pacemaker, AICD etc. free of cost of schemes patients and in an affordable rate for paid category patients.
