Achievements.

Advanced Multi-visceral Resection in a Rare Case of Non- Seminomatous Germ Cell Tumor: A High-Risk Surgical Success (March 2025).  The Dept. of Surgical Oncology at AIIMS Nagpur recently performed a very high-risk and complex surgery: right hepatectomy with right lung lower lobectomy, along with resection of the involved right hemi-diaphragm, in an extremely rare condition known as Extra-testicular Non-seminomatous Germ Cell Tumor. Following chemotherapy, a 23-year-old man was suffering from haemoptysis as the residual liver tumor had infiltrated the diaphragm and spread into the right lung. The procedure required advanced techniques, exceptional precision, and the expertise necessary for its successful execution, as it involved the resection of vital organs. The surgery was performed by Dr. Shubhada Khanapure, Associate Professor, Department of Surgical Oncology, AIIMS, Nagpur.

Rare Lung Cancer Complex Surgery Done (JAN-2025) – The Surgery performed at AIIMS Nagpur, a right Pneumonectomy, involved the complete removal of the diseased lung. This procedure is highly intricate and demands exceptional surgical precision, especially when dealing with a cancer as aggressive as synovial cell carcinoma. The proximity of the tumour to vital organs, including the heart and major blood vessels, made the operation particularly challenging. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neelesh Shrivastava, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgical Oncology, AIIMS, Nagpur.
