1.Title: 40th EYE DONATION FORTNIGHT PROGRAM
Write-up:
The Eye Bank, AIIMS Nagpur, in collaboration with the Eye Bank of Madhav Netralaya, organized a Vehicle Rally to mark the celebration of the 40th Eye Donation Fortnight Awareness Campaign. The rally commenced from Gajanan Nagar and concluded at Madhav Netralaya, Vasudev Nagar.
Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The program also featured a thought-provoking awareness skit performed by children, aimed at busting myths surrounding eye donation and encouraging the community to come forward for this noble cause, in addition to a slogan contest for placards used for awareness by PGs of Ophthalmology AIIMS, Nagpur.

2.Title: Refraction Room & Equipment Inauguration & Surgical Milestone Achievement at Dept of Ophthalmology AIIMS Nagpur
Write-up:
The newly set up alternative refraction room with the recently procured Refraction room equipment including Digital charts, trial sets, frames were formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur, Prof. (Dr.) Prashant P. Joshi, in the OPD of the Dept of Ophthalmology on 7th August 2025.
This alternative refraction room will serve to facilitate the management of the increasing OPD foot-fall which is being experienced in the Dept.
The event also marked the achievement of an important surgical milestone wherein the Department successfully completed 5000 surgical procedures since the inception of the Ophthalmic Operation Theatre in late 2021. The Batch of 2021 witnessed as our Executive Director interacted with and congratulated the Dept Staff, residents and Faculty.
AIIMS Nagpur and the Dept of Ophthalmology continues to be committed to providing excellence in patient care: diagnostic, medical and surgical with its state-of-the-art set-up.

3.Title: FROM IDEA TO IMPACT A MASTERCLASS IN CLINICAL RESEARCH AND PAPER WRITING For PGs and Practitioners at AIIMS Nagpur

The Department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Nagpur, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society (MOS), Vidarbha Ophthalmic Society (VOS), and Ophthalmological Society of India (OSN), successfully organised a one-day workshop titled "FROM IDEA TO IMPACT: A MASTERCLASS IN CLINICAL RESEARCH AND PAPER WRITING – For PGs and
Practitioners".
The workshop was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur, Prof. (Dr.) Prashant P. Joshi, and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 100 delegates from 11 institutes across 7 cities in Maharashtra, including more than 65 PG students.
This academic event served as a dynamic platform for in-depth, hands- on, internet-based training focussing on the nuances of clinical research methods and scientieic paper submission and writing. It aimed at enhancing both the research acumen and publishing capabilities of postgraduate students working on their theses and young practitioners by using standard data-sets.
AIIMS Nagpur continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence, skill-acquisition-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the advancement of medical education and research.

4. Title: VIDHARBHA DCR WORKSHOP 2.0
Write-up:
Cadaveric Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) Workshop Conducted at AIIMS Nagpur
The Department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Nagpur, in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy and Ophthalmology Societies—Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society (MOS), Vidarbha Ophthalmic Society (VOS), and Oculoplastic Society of India (OSN)—successfully organized a hands-on cadaveric Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) workshop. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Executive Director, Prof. (Dr.) P.P. Joshi.
The workshop received enthusiastic participation from delegates across the india and served as a valuable platform for advanced practical training and skill enhancement in lacrimal surgery. Through cadaveric dissection sessions under the guidance of eminent faculty, participants were able to strengthen their anatomical understanding and surgical confidence.
AIIMS Nagpur remains steadfast in its commitment to academic excellence, skill-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration in medical education.

5. Title: Preconference workshop of Strabismus and Peadiatric Ophthalmology Society of India (SPOSI) held at AIIMS Nagpur
Date: 18th June 2022
Write-up:
The department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Nagpur, successfully hosted the preconference workshop for squint evaluation techniques under the aeges of SPOSI. It was attended by more than 50 MD, MS, DNB students and practicing Ophthalmologist attended the workshop. Various aspects of squint evaluation and diagnosis were discussed. It included the use of many specialised instruments and tools like synatophore, 3D vision evaluation tools, HESS’s chart etc. The workshop was well received and appreciated by all the attendees.

6.Title: Outreach Ophthalmic Screening camps attended in various urban and rural parts of Nagpur
Date: 1st July to 20th July 2022
Write-up: A 4 member team from AIIMS Nagpur conducted screening and evaluation of more than 4000 patients over a period of 20 days including Sundays and holidays. Patients were given treatment at primary level and refractive correction was prescribed. Glasses were distributed by the organisers. Those who required further treatment or surgeries were called to the institute for further evaluation. The patients requiring surgical intervention were identified and for providing free of cost surgical intervention.
Patients appreciated the services offered to them at the Community level

7.Title: Fundus Angiography services functional at AIIMS Nagpur
Date: 4th August 2022
Write-up:
Angiography procedures serve to evaluate the vasculature of the eye and serves as the cornerstone for diagnosis of many retinal disorders like central serous retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, Diabetic retinopathy, Diabetic macular odema and Macular odema from various causes.
Fundus fluorescence Angiography services will help patients of AIIMS Nagpur in accurate diagnosis and follow-up for treatment at a very affordable cost.

8.Title:- Inauguration of high-end phacoemulsification machine, Dept of Ophthalmology

9. Title :- Dept of Ophthalmology kickstarts free phaco surgeries with foldable IOLs
#OphthalmologyDept #AIIMSNagpur has committed to perform 1200 free cataract surgeries this year. High quality foldable hydrophobic IOLs have been procured to enable the latest techniques of phacoemulsification to be used even for the poorest of the poor. #NPCB #DMFNagpur.
