Introduction:

Vision: The Department of Neonatology has the objective to become a regional centre of excellence in comprehensive quality neonatal care, far- reaching neonatal care training, meaningful transformative research and innovations and thereby facilitate intact neonatal survival, for a healthier future of India.

Mission: To establish comprehensive new born care services with the emphasis on family centred care, to create an innovation and research facilitating environment, to lay the foundation for setting up training programs for future neonatologists.

Academics: The department of Neonatology has commenced the training program, DM in Neonatology from the year 2023. The DM neonatology is a three year training program for post MD paediatric students.  The department also trains MD Paediatrics trainees, interns and nurses posted in NICU.

  • Outreach services: The department is mentoring SNCU at Dharni, Melghat through 24X7 video and tele-medicine. We are regularly conducting training in neonatal care for health staff of SNCUs in the state as part of Facility based newborn care (FBNC) program by MOHFW.
